iPhone Photography
Having been recently inspired by the work of Chase Jarvis and certain Flickr groups, I’ve decided to start posting more of my own photography taken with and manipulated by only what’s available on the iPhone. No Photoshop nor even transferring back to my Mac.
Currently, the only app I’m using for post-processing is the wonderful, although hugely memory-inefficient (v1.5.1 will apparently fix this), CameraBag [iTunes]. The next apps I’m looking to grab are ColorSplash [iTunes] and Pano [iTunes]. For uploading to Flickr, I’m using the fantastic (and free!) Flickit [iTunes] because (1) it has a great interface, (2) you have full control over setting the title, tags, visibility, quality, etc., and (3) it supports uploading multiple photos in one shot. And for these reasons, along with it always being on me, I overlook the fact that the iPhone sports a meager 2MP camera with no focus-control; however, I gladly welcome the speculation of a 3.2MP camera with auto-focus in the forthcoming iPhone that can also record video. The bottom line is that the experience is fun, extensible through apps, and extra-convenient. Perhaps Chase explains it best:
The best camera is the one that’s with you.
I’ll occasionally be choosing a favorite out of my Flickr photostream and posting it here. So, without further ado, what better way to kick off a Friday evening than that of a bright, golden-orange beer from one of California’s finest breweries, Bear Republic (photo to follow).
UPDATE — I’ll be keeping this post updated with links to all photos.
